REAL Food

Have I mentioned Micah has to FEED HIMSELF (that's how he seems to feel about it...all caps worth). I know I mentioned he doesn't like baby food, but now he won't even eat cereal mixed with juice. Well, not with any regularity. Ugh! What a brat :D. So, he's been getting what we eat (within reason). The other day at lunch he was actually pulling himself forward with the sides of his tray so he could get a better look at what I was eating. It was just noodles and shredded cheese, so I shared a couple small pieces and he was happy. He LOVES shredded cheese....well eat it by the handful. He did the same with scrambled eggs the other night at dinner. Yesterday I let him try some of our sloppy joe meat, and he ate it! I assumed he would make nasty faces and leave it, but he just kept on eating. I've tried small pieces of pear and avocado as well, but those things are slippery and hard to pick up. A friend mentioned giving him some traction by grinding up Cheerios and sprinkling them on the fruit, so we are going to be trying that some night when he can't have what we do.

He is still very much a nurser, though....when he's tired it's almost too much work to feed himself, so he will just cry and fuss in his chair until I feed him. I'm totally good with that. Ideally, I don't want him to wean until flu season is over, but if he nurses until he's almost 2 (like Isaiah did) I'm perfectly okay with that.
