Isaiah just burst into tears because Kahn got a hold of one of his stuffed animals and slobbered all over it. The toy was not maimed or destroyed, just wet. Pretty confident in assuming there was no nap had by that boy today.

Conversations with Isaiah 03.101
Me: Isaiah, that's silly.
Isaiah: No, Mommy, its cool!
Me: I think its silly.
Isaiah: Its cool! You're just old.

Ruff is Home!
We finally got to bring Ruffers home this evening! We tried feeding him turkey when he got home and he inhaled it. He also had some mashed potatoes with a bit of gravy. I guess he was just refusing to eat while he was at the vet. Thank goodness!! I was so worried he would survive getting RUN OVER and surgery but refuse to eat. Jeremy is out getting him some canned food so we can keep him eating, and he also has a bit of dry food in the room. For now he is confined to the playroom and has to go out on a leash while he heals...at least 2 weeks until the stitches are removed. I'm so happy to have him home!!
Conversations with Isaiah 03.100
What is said and what Isaiah hears is always amusing. Recently I said "child of the 80s" and he heard "for the ladies"....and someone on the tv said "rescued from the hot lava" and he heard "rescued from the hot llama".
Update On Ruff
Well, the past few days Ruff has been doing okay. He's had a chest tube in since the surgery and the amount of fluid and air they are getting out of it has greatly reduced (no air, minimal fluid). They are taking that out this morning and he might be able to come home tonight!! It should be 24 hours after the tube comes out before he is discharged, but Doofus has barely eaten since he has been there. So, hopefully he comes home and his appetite perks up. That is the big thing now...taking it easy and getting him to eat. So...he's not out of the woods, but he's doing pretty damn good considering he was run over 3 days ago!!

Micah @ 8 Months
Micah is EIGHT MONTHS OLD. Last weekend he woke up SCREAMING several (SEVERAL) times last Friday night. It took most of the night, but sometime around 5 or 6 Saturday morning I remembered Isaiah used to do the exact same thing when he had an ear infection. Thankfully, our pediatrician has walk in hours on Saturday, so I got him in and...double ear infection. Not surprised, but poor little guy! And I forgot how difficult it is to medicate an infant. Between the antibiotic and the Tylenol we were giving him at first (to help with that pain), Micah got to where he did not trust anything we were trying to get in his mouth. I don't remember when Isaiah got better about it, but I can't wait for that! (Not that I like giving the boys medicine...but, if I have to, I want it to be easy!)
Micah's third tooth is coming in as well. Top, middle. A lot of other bumps are in his gums, so I'm wondering how quickly the rest are going to be coming in.
Sleep has been awesome the past couple nights. Well, Micah's sleep (I have nasty congestion). Ever since he was born, Micah has slept in my arms. Basically, my arm has been his pillow. I'm ready to start working on getting him to start out the night in his bed. First step has been getting him to sleep on his own in our bed. The past 2-3 nights, he's not only not been in my arms but he's slept from 10ish until 5ish no problems. It is AWESOME (though probably is heralding the return of my period...boo!) Last night he didn't even wake at 10!
I'm finally admitting that I need to move his clothes up a size. At this rate, he won't be in 12-month for long, just because he should have been in it for a bit. We just don't have the money right now. Damn joblessness!! I got him a couple pairs of pants yesterday because they were on sale.
We are FINALLY switching his daycare! They had a spot open at the daycare Isaiah is at. Thank GOODNESS! One day last week Jeremy showed up to get Micah and they told him he was out of milk and was probably hungry. OH.MY.GOSH PEOPLE....CALL me when he FINISHES his food so we can get him before he gets hungry! WTF?!? So ready to get him switched! It will also be MUCH easier to pick up both the boys at the same place, instead of driving an extra 30 minutes to just get Micah.
Micah is getting really good at sitting. I bet he would be better if anyone but me ever had him doing it. Jeremy usually plays with him laying on the ground, and at daycare they are either holding him, or he's laying down. Annoying, but whatever. He will get there eventually. He's also standing with help, but I definitely don't move my hands away from his sides. He tries to pull up, but hasn't successfully since that time he surprised me...a couple months ago, I think?

Ruff vs Lexus
Kahn has been destructive lately, so I figured I'd bring him with me to work yesterday. As we were walking out the door (with my hands FULL of my keys, lunch, purse & the bag with my pump PLUS the leash) Kahn saw a squirrel and charged, pulling the leash right out of my hands. I yell at him and start toward the car, hoping he will just hop in (that's how I've gotten Ruff before) and Ruff charges out the door after Kahn. CRAP!! So the two of them start romping in the yard and I'm STILL hoping opening the car doors will get them to jump in. Then they start across the street. I yell at them to get in the car, just trying to get their attention. Nope. They start running down the street in the yards opposite our house. Soooo I'm trying to get Isaiah to hurry up and get in the car, planning on driving after them and getting them in the car down the street. Had to do that one before too.
Then. Then, then, then. An SUV turns on to our street. And starts coming toward our house. And the dogs. Who are happily playing in a yard across the street. Totally oblivious. I watch in horror as Ruff turns and runs across the street.
Right in front of this car.
And goes RIGHT UNDER THE CARS TIRES.
Front and back.
Two sets of tires right over the middle of my poor dog.
I scream in horror. Yell at Isaiah to stay in the house and tear down the middle of the road, screaming Ruff's name. Certain he was dead.
Did I mention I SAW MY DOG GO UNDER TWO TIRES. I kept playing that scene out in my head over and over and over and over and over again. All day long.
Ruff gets up and bounds away. Totally like he's still playing. Oh thank goodness, I was terrified I'd have to take care of a dead dog while my preschooler was home. But he ran away from our house...toward an even busier street.
So I throw Isaiah in my car to go after the dogs. (Thankfully, Kahn was not hurt.) We drive down the street and Kahn is standing in a driveway with a couple dogs inside barking their fool heads off at him. He ran right up to me so I threw him in the car, brought him home, then turned around and went back after Ruff. I keep stopping people who are out walking their dogs asking if they'd seen him (cuz every dog is Ruff's BFF). I head in the direction of the dog daycare we used to bring him to all the time, not knowing where else to look for him. I pulled into the lot and Ruff is RIGHT THERE sitting at their back door.
Ohmygosh thank goodness.
He's bleeding a bit and hurt, but I can't see anything else. So I get him in my car (he is able to walk down the stairs and jump in the car on his own....yay!) We get to a vet...10 minutes before they open. I call them and leave a message saying "my dog was hit, we are waiting in your parking lot until you open". Five minutes later, they open the door. A check and x-ray and....cuts, road rash and diaphragmatic hernia.
His diaphragm ruptured(?) so his intestines are too high which has pushed his stomach too high and his lungs are compressed and his heart is too low and, and, and, and. Basically everything inside is not in the right place. He needs surgery. That day. And they can't do it.
So poor Ruff goes BACK in the car. I can hear him having trouble breathing (he just can't get a good big breath because his lungs are compressed.) And when I have to slow down too quickly I can tell it hurts him.
Once we get there they take him right back. They tell me it's bad, but not terrible. He does need surgery that day, but they can take the time to get fluids in him and get him some pain meds before they have to open him up. He has a better prognosis since they don't have to rush right in.
Two hours after we were finally able to leave (once money was figured out) they called and said he was out of surgery and had woken up. The rupture had been pretty significant, but they got everything put back together and hadn't seen any damage to his organs or anything. Frankly, I think he was pretty darn luck all in all. Yes, he's going to have recovery time but it could have been SO.MUCH.WORSE. No broken bones or ruptured organs or internal bleeding. He has a good prognosis. Things can take a turn for the worse, but his chances are good that he will completely recover.
The poor guy who Ruff ran in front of did pull over and looked SOOOOO upset. I'm pretty sure I apologized to him (hey...it was Ruff's fault). He was asking what he could do to help, if I wanted help looking for the dogs. I was busy bawling (or trying not to? I was trying to not upset Isaiah) so I told him to just go.
I called my boss in tears right after Ruff got hit to tell her I wouldn't be in, that Ruff had been hit and run off. This would be the boss the brought me Kahn. She was so awesome. Hopped in her car to help find him (I found him quickly enough, though)...offered to help with money if we needed it, kept checking on him, etc.
So.....now we wait and see how recovery goes.

Ack!
So far today there have been tears because of: ear infections, medicine, nose wipes, hunger, bonked heads, not wanting to share, teething, not enough sleep, face wipes, & more. I have NOT had enough sleep the past few nights to be able to handle this gracefully!

New Daycare for Micah
Micah is moving to a new daycare! There is FINALLY a spot open at the church, so he and Isaiah can go to the same one. The babies aren't in the main building, though. They are in "The Little House"....which reminds me of middle school.
Conversations with Isaiah 03.099
We asked Isaiah what he would like for Christmas this year. His answer? "Optimus Prime might come in handy."

REAL Food
Have I mentioned Micah has to FEED HIMSELF (that's how he seems to feel about it...all caps worth). I know I mentioned he doesn't like baby food, but now he won't even eat cereal mixed with juice. Well, not with any regularity. Ugh! What a brat :D. So, he's been getting what we eat (within reason). The other day at lunch he was actually pulling himself forward with the sides of his tray so he could get a better look at what I was eating. It was just noodles and shredded cheese, so I shared a couple small pieces and he was happy. He LOVES shredded cheese....well eat it by the handful. He did the same with scrambled eggs the other night at dinner. Yesterday I let him try some of our sloppy joe meat, and he ate it! I assumed he would make nasty faces and leave it, but he just kept on eating. I've tried small pieces of pear and avocado as well, but those things are slippery and hard to pick up. A friend mentioned giving him some traction by grinding up Cheerios and sprinkling them on the fruit, so we are going to be trying that some night when he can't have what we do.
He is still very much a nurser, though....when he's tired it's almost too much work to feed himself, so he will just cry and fuss in his chair until I feed him. I'm totally good with that. Ideally, I don't want him to wean until flu season is over, but if he nurses until he's almost 2 (like Isaiah did) I'm perfectly okay with that.

Scratch that.... He voted for "Romney like on Robots (the movie)"
Which, by the way, is actually "Rodney"

Conversations with Isaiah 03.095
In school today the kids were learning about voting. When I asked Isaiah who he voted for he told me Romney. I asked why (assuming it had something to do with color) and he told me "Because Guy (his friend)" did. NOT what I wanted him to learn today!

Broken Arm? Part 2
I told Isaiah we were going to go get a picture taken of his arm to see why it still hurts. A little later he brought me my camera and said "Here you go, Mommy". When I asked what I needed it for, he gave me a 'duh' look and said "For my arm!"
Broken Arm? Part 1
Well, it looks like Isaiah and I will be making a trip to Children's Mercy for an X-ray this morning. Poor guy.
