Happy Easter!

I love being able to backdate entries...later it will make it seem like I'm more on top of things than I really am! Though I guess writing such things gives away that I'm NOT on to of things. Oh well.

So. This year was Micah's second Easter, but the first one that he was really aware of. Last year he was...what? Two-and-a-half weeks old. Granted, he won't remember this one either, but at least he participated.

Actually, the day started with Isaiah waking up butt-crack early like he always does. He MIGHT have been up before 6:00, but I honestly can't remember. I went down with him so he could have his basket and find the eggs the Easter bunny had hidden. I made him leave one for Micah to "find" and he got to open the others.

Micah also woke up early, but probably because Isaiah was being loud and excited. He certainly didn't understand why we were taking pictures so early but he got into things quickly. It certainly helped that he got some things to shake and make noise with!

Then it was time to get ready for church! I must say, I have ADORABLE little boys!

After church we came home for a bit, then headed to my mom's for Easter food and LOTS of egg hiding. After we had some cinnamon rolls, Micah got to open some birthday presents (since his family party had been cancelled due to SNOW!)

Other than that it was a lot of family time and a lot of great food. A new game was played and enjoyed by all (jump rope to grave to church doors?). Isaiah had a FANTASTIC time playing with Joel and Curtis. And the boys were worn out after all the excitement and missing naps.

Conversations with Isaiah 04.022

Me: Isaiah, I thought you were playing with your brother...
Isaiah: He's driving me crazy!
Me: How is he driving you crazy?

Isaiah (in an exasperated voice and shaking his head): He's just...he's acting like a CHILD!!

Things I Never Thought I'd Say #1

"Don't lick your brother!"

"I don't want your toots, give them to your dad."

"Get your head out of my bum!"

Conversations with Isaiah 04.021

Me: We have a new pope, Isaiah.

Isaiah: What's a poop?

First Year in Review!

He's changed a bit in the past year!

Micah @ 1 Year!

Stats
20 lbs, 4 oz (15%)
27 3/4" (3%)

Can you believe it? My little bug is ONE! A year ago today my little boy came flying out without bothering to wait for the doctor. Apparently, once we told him it was time to come out whether he liked it or not, he thought that was a mighty fine idea!

He is such an adorable little guy! Completely Mommy-centered these days. Any time I leave a room it's the end of the world...even if Daddy or Isaiah are still in there with him!

Micah is still a great eater! He definitely eats better than Isaiah does NOW. He still nurses, but it's cut way back lately. Really just before bed and at naptime. He's been using me as a pacifier at night lately. We need to work on that!

He isn't QUITE walking unassisted, but he's gotten cruising down lately. He can get all over downstairs going from one piece of furniture to the next. Isaiah also has started helping Micah walk around...so you know the little one's balance is getting better!

Talking...I'm not sure about. He says several things that sound CLOSE to what he's looking at. I just don't know if it's INTENTIONAL or not yet.  He's said things that sound similar to "kitty" "dog" and of course there's the "mama" and "dada" which is used without any sort of discretion.

He's also become a pretty silly little mimic...copying sounds AND actions. The other night he did exactly what Jeremy did when he yawned and stretched. And he KNEW he was being silly too!

And Oh My Gosh those boys LOVE each other. Isaiah is SO ready for his little brother to be able to play with him! They "wrestle" with some serious help from me. They have also played swords a couple times...Micah's good at waving stuff around and Isaiah has the coordination to hit Micah's sword so it works well.

No more teeth to speak of and Micah's still a little guy. His checkup isn't for another 2 weeks so we will see how big he actually is. He HAS chunked up lately so maybe he's getting ready for a growth spurt. Who knows. But we sure are excited for what comes next!

Comparing...
Micah                                         Isaiah
20 lbs, 4 oz (15%)                    25 lbs, 5 oz (95%)
27 3/4" (3%)                              31 1/2" (95%)

Conversations with Isaiah 04.019

We came in from checking the mail and Isaiah started getting loud while he was taking off his coat....

Me: Isaiah, be quiet! You don't need to just sit there and make noise!
Isaiah: I'm not sitting!

Me: Isaiah! You almost fell off the bed!
Isaiah (completely deadpan): I know. I'm funny like that.

Conversations with Isaiah 04.017

Me: While you're upstairs will you grab my camera off my desk?
Isaiah: Okay! .... I just see this phone.
Me: You don't see the camera?
Isaiah: I don't...see...your FREAKING camera!

Conversations with Isaiah 04.015

Me: Uhoh I broke it.
Isaiah: It's okay. It's Micah's.
Me: Why is it Micah's? Because it's broken?
Isaiah: Yeah! He just gets the broken stuff!

Conversations with Isaiah 04.014

Isaiah stuck a little silicone bowl on his stomach and pulled his shirt over it....

Isaiah: Look, Mommy! My belly is REALLY full.
Me: Go show Daddy...tell him you have cancer.
Isaiah: Look, Daddy! I'm cancelled!

Trouble!

I just watched Micah work his way across the baby gate to the door, raise the latch, swing the door open a few times, close the door, and latch it back.

We may have to start utilizing the lock.

More Trouble Than His Brother!

Conversations with Isaiah 04.013

Me: I can't really juggle, but I can pretend.
Isaiah: You can't juggle?
Me: No, but Daddy can!
Isaiah: Oh yeah, Daddy can. I want to learn to juggle like a clown!
Me: Is Daddy a clown because he knows how to juggle?
Isaiah. Yeah, but he doesn't know how to juggle and ride a bicycle.

Conversations with Isaiah 04.012

Isaiah: Mommy, are you going to wear your brown shirt today?
Me: My brown shirt?
Isaiah: Yeah, brown like (points to the bear on his shirt)
Me: Are you talking about my brown sweater?
Isaiah: Yeah, brown. I didn't say GRAY

Conversations with Isaiah 04.011

Me: Isaiah, watch your brother for a minute. That means playing with him not just messing around with your stuff..... Isaiah? .... Isaiah!
Isaiah: What?!
Me: What did I tell you?
Isaiah: Yeah, yeah. Watch my brother, blah, blah, blah!

Micah Firsts

I think Micah is suddenly DAYS away from walking. He has started to get REALLY excited when he lets go of my hands and stands by himself...and then last night he took a few teeeeny tiny steps all on his own. Three to be exact. I'm not sure he actually moved very far, but he picked those little feets up three times before he started falling.

He's going to be chasing his brother REALLY soon!

Watch Him Closely....

This is why you never think "Its okay, he can't get that open".
He WILL get it open. Every time.
