Doctor Visit x2 Boys
Dragging Isaiah to the doctor was a giant waste of time. Now, I love our doctor, but she didn't seem to realize we where there for a follow up (neither did the office ladies...I wonder how it was put in the system) and hadn't taken the time to look at his chart. She didn't say anything new, really thinks the squeezing is asthma or allergies, and told us to keep his appointment next week with the specialist. Glad I wasted the co-pay on that...seriously, her office called me TWICE to make sure I knew to bring him in if the complaints started again and when I did I felt like she thought I was wasting her time. Blah.
Micah is doing well. He only gained a little over a pound in the last 3 months but grew close to 2 inches. His weight dropped way down on the curve (from 50% to 20%) but no one seemed worried so whatever. I think he just had a growth spurt so he hasn't chunked back up from that. Also, since he prefers food to nursing when food is around, he definitely isn't the full-time nurser Isaiah was and isn't getting as much fat. If they are using the growth chart for formula-fed babies, he's going to be in a lower percentile anyway. I didn't think to ask about the curve. Obviously, it's not something that concerns me. Height is still low (12-15%, can't remember) and has a huge noggin (75%!) I think he's getting two new teeth...I've seen one on the top and the doctor noticed one on the bottom. No wonder he's been fussy the past day or two!

Conversations with Isaiah 03.106
Me: Isaiah, stop the attitude or you're going to get a time out.
Isaiah: I don't have an attitude, we BOTH have attitudes! Micah has an attitude!
Me: Micah is too little to have an attitude!
Isaiah: No he isn't! Sometimes he cries all day!

Micah @ 9 Months
Stats
18 lbs, 6 oz (20%)
27" (15%)
Incidentally, it has also been a month since Ruff was run over. I was watching him doze on the couch this morning, snuggled with a couple of Isaiah's stuffed animals, and realized all the money stress we're under may have come from him getting out the door that morning but if it wasn't that something else was bound to happen. I hope we can learn & move forward from this...I have Dave Ramsey's book on hold at the library and will go get it tonight or tomorrow.
On to Micah's update!
Little bug has had a cold for what seems like forever. First winter, daycare, etc, etc. I think he's getting another tooth, too...he keeps licking at his gums but I couldn't see/feel anything yesterday. Anyway, that also might have something to do with the congestion. It would be his fifth tooth (and more than Isaiah had at the same age).
We did get him out in the snow for a bit yesterday. I got pictures, but they are on my camera which is at home. We bundled him up in 2 sets of footie pajamas, his jacket, a hat, and those tiny newborn "gloves" that are supposed to keep them from scratching their faces. Too small for his hands, but I'm sure it helped keep them warm. Of course, he didn't know what to make of the snow and the couple minutes he was sitting in it he was more interested in trying to grab the stem of a stupid spiky ball than messing with the actual snow. The pictures are still cute!
Micah is sitting well enough that I don't have to stay right next to him anymore. I think the new daycare helped with that. The last place he was usually being held (he was the youngest!) or I saw him on his belly a few times. NEVER sitting on his own. (How he would learn like that is beyond me!) Micah sits at the new place and Jeremy is finally starting to play with him while he's sitting up. He's also started "walking" as in putting one foot in front of the other on his own, instead of me twisting his body to make his feet move. He gets around pretty well in his walker these days...he's actually going forward! The other day he got around Isaiah, turned the table corner, and got over to the Christmas tree! No telling if that was his destination or not, but I'm still impressed.
Most of his diet is still breastmilk. Sometimes I wonder if that's okay (as in, should be be eating more solids) but mostly I'm fine with it...I don't want to rush anything! Every time we eat a meal he sits in his chair and has something, even if it's just a cracker and some shredded cheese. The rest of the time he's hungry he gets milk. He's gotten into the oh-my-gosh-biting-ouch stage. I actually had to pump & bottle feed him all last weekend because Friday he was biting so hard & often that I had cuts on my nipples. He was getting frustrated too because I'd break his latch every time he did it. It was better for both of us to take a break. And it's not like the milk was any less fresh...I'd pump, put it in a bottle, and feed him. He still bites sometimes and I take him off, but we are doing SO much better.
I think Micah is getting close to talking. He jabbers a lot (especially when he's eating) and a lot of his sounds are really close to things we say. I hear a lot of "Dada" and Jeremy said it sounded like he said "Hi Ruff" when the dog walked up to him yesterday. I wish I had heard it...so cute! I wonder if he will be an early talker/late walker like Isaiah was.
Micah is still SOOOOO blond and his hair is so fine! In some of the pictures I take he still looks bald due to lighting! Poor little guy. His hair is getting pretty long, though...you just have to look for it.
I guess that's the big stuff. Checkup is next week so we will see how big he's getting!

Conversations with Isaiah 03.104
Excerpts from Isaiah's version of some Christmas songs:
"You know Dancer and Prancer and Fix-It, Comet and Cupit, and Don-der and Blitzen. But do you really call, the most famous....."
"So bring us some fiddy pudding, so bring us some fiddy pudding, so bring us some fiddy pudding and a cup of good cheer"

Worry About Isaiah
I don't think I've written about what's being going on with Isaiah. Unfortunately, he kind of got overshadowed by Ruff...you know...getting run over. Poor kid.
For several weeks (like, 3) Isaiah would wake up from his nap and say he didn't feel good. He told me his head hurt and his heart was squeezing. I have NO idea what that's supposed to mean, but it kind of freaked me out. I know they had heard a couple different types of murmurs when he was checked out after he was born, but I had not heard anything about it since then. We've also been to 4 different doctor's offices since the practice that came to the hospital. It could be no one at the new place knew about it.
So, I brought him to the doctor. She did not hear a murmur (yay) and sent us to the local children's hospital for an EKG and chest x-ray to make sure there wasn't anything going on that wouldn't be obvious from listening. She said a lot of times with kids things that seem like cardiac problems are actually GI related. We talked about low grade allergies also being a factor in some way. His frequent nose bleeds also seemed to point to whatever she was talking about. So, I wasn't too worried when we left the doctor.
The next day, Ruff gets run over. We still managed to get Isaiah to the hospital for his stuff and promptly didn't think anything more of it. Poor kid was sort of put on the back burner because of the dog (Sorry, Isaiah!). Then there was Thanksgiving. And we didn't hear anything more. "No news is good news" from doctors, so it didn't come back up.
Until yesterday. I got home and saw Jeremy had written down "admitting" and a phone number. I asked him about it and he said that the hospital had called and wanted us to go back in for a "consultation". It's not supposed to be urgent, but we have to go back with Isaiah sometime.
Cue freak out. I don't care if it's "not urgent" you want me to COME BACK with my kid because of SOMETHING. Something isn't right...maybe it isn't dire, but if we're going back something isn't right.
And the soonest they can get us in? January 3rd. A MONTH AWAY!!
Ohmygosh please let my little boy be okay! Please, please, please. It's like those dark fears that overtake me sometimes are coming true! I realize I might be overreacting but....shit...WHY do they want us to go back?
Guess we will find out in a month. I'm going to be a wreck before then.

Ruff Update
Ruff got his staples out today! He looks like he's healing just fine, but is supposed to "take it easy" for a couple more weeks. As if Ruff would do that!

"Mommy! We are talking about what we like to do to bad guys to destroy them. I like to kick their butts and punch them in the eyes."
WTF?

What Isaiah said: I'm faster than Guy!
What AnnMarie heard: I'm faster than God!

Aunties Learning Lessons
AnnMarie learned an important lesson today. If you let a 3 year old pick out an ornament with the only stipulation that it be red, green, or gold you MAY end up with a Star Wars C3PO head.
