Isaiah @ 3.5 Years

Well, Isaiah is 3 1/2 now. I'm really not sure what's changed since he turned 3, so I will probably just blather on for a bit about how amazing he is.

Isaiah has been fully potty trained, including naps and at night, for over a year now. I've taken it for granted and forget how great that is until I see other kids that are barely younger than him (or even the same age) still in diapers. I know every kid does things on their own schedule, but it still makes me proud of my big guy.

The boy's vocabulary is amazing. He uses words we didn't know he KNEW....and uses them correctly! He's even started asking us what words mean when he doesn't understand them. The other day he was watching Transformers and they used a word he didn't know (of course, I can't remember what it was now) and I had to try to explain it to him. Jeremy got a kick out of that. I have a good vocabulary, but I don't know how to explain some words on a level I think Isaiah will understand. Maybe I try to dumb some things down too much? He also says the CRAZIEST things sometimes.

Isaiah can write his first and last name. First name completely without help, last name we still have to help him spell sometimes because he likes to leave out the 'c'. He still doesn't know all his letters, but we will probably work on that while he's home full time for a few weeks. Unless Jeremy and I actually find jobs. I'm just assuming we will be home at this point.

He had his last day at his old daycare yesterday. All his friends made him cards, which was really sweet. He doesn't seem too upset about it....in fact, he keeps asking about when he's going to start at his new school. Sometime this week I'm going to have to drop that paperwork off up there and will probably bring him with me so maybe we can see some of it.

Napping is becoming a fight. He still NEEDS one, but can lay in bed for an hour or more and not fall asleep. Those are bad nights. He usually ends up going to be early without getting to watch tv because he's just such a fussy mess.

He LOVES his brother! And is just a super, amazing, beautiful, fantastic little boy!

Conversations with Isaiah 03.071

Earlier tonight I was telling Jeremy we needed to remember to run the dishwasher tonight. I only got out "We need to remember to...." when Isaiah chimed in with "....put that on Facebook later!"

Isaiah: He's having a meal.
Me: Yeah, he is.
Isaiah: A McDonald's meal!

Conversations with Isaiah 03.069

This morning, during one of the songs in church Isaiah started making noise. I told him to be quiet but realized he had been singing (oooo-OOOOOO-ooooo VERY loudly and VERY off key). So I aplologized and told him he could sing if he wanted to.

He looked at me, gave me a big smile, and started singing 'Itsy Bitsy Spider'.

Micah @ 4 Months

Stats
14 lbs, 15 oz (25%)
23 3/4" (10%)

So what's new at 4 months? He's still quite the talker, but he's gotten louder. There's jabbering, and sometimes he starts shouting. One day he yelled so loud you could just tell it startled him! He's also become incredibly grabby...anything he can get his hands on! He grabs my hair, curtains, the pets' hair (and has pulled some out!)...pretty much everything. He really seems to enjoy his interlocking rings, but could care less about the teething ones. I think his first tooth will poke through soon! At least, I hope so. He's been miserable the past couple days.

I want to say that he's getting harder to entertain, but it's really that he finally needs to be entertained because he doesn't sit there quite so passively anymore. He really enjoys the outside, and sometimes to calm him down we really have to take him outside (and it's been brutally hot lately). Actually, the past couple days I've discovered that he enjoys looking out the windows just as much, so sometimes that saves us.

Micah has really gotten rolling on to his belly down now. We're in the "if you put me down I will promptly attempt to roll onto my belly" stage, which complicates diaper changes. It also means we need to be more careful about what we have on the floor around him, because he's going to try to get to it (and then stuff it in his mouth!)

He had his checkup the other day. 14 pounds 14 ounces (so close to 15! that surprised me) and 23 3/4 inches. So he grew almost 3 inches and added almost 3 pounds in 2 months! He is SO ROUND. I love it!

We moved furniture around last weekend (or maybe the one before) and now the boys are sharing a bedroom and we have a playroom! Micah still sleeps in bed with me at night, but once we added a small light to their room Isaiah's done better about sleeping in his bed. And the fact that Micah at least occasionally starts out the night in his crib really seems to make Isaiah believe they're sharing a room. We also put Ruff's bed in there a few days ago, so Jeremy and I don't have any extra furniture in our room anymore :D

Comparing...
Micah                                 Isaiah
14 lbs, 15 oz (25%)              18lbs, 3 oz (100%)
23 3/4" (10%)                       26 1/2" (88%)

Isaiah Firsts

Isaiah had his first dentist appointment yesterday. Not sure if we're way late on that or what. He did a great job. In fact, we had extra time because they schedule so much space for first timers. Which means we had to wait our turn for the dentist to check him and Micah woke up so I was trying to walk around with him in this tiny space. That part sucked. But Isaiah was fantastic! They kept saying he was the best 3 year old they've seen and he did better than older kids. I always wonder if they say that to ALL the kids who are somewhat good....but he really was very well behaved!

Conversations with Isaiah 03.059

Isaiah: Where'd my poppy thing go?
Me: I don't know, I didn't see you pop it.
Isaiah: Then my life is RUINED!

Conversations with Isaiah 03.058

Sometimes, using new vocabulary with 3 year olds is amusing. I should have taken a picture of his face when I said one of his toys was a 'deserter'. I think he was focusing on the "dessert" part.

Conversations with Isaiah 03.057

This is all AFTER I shower...

Isaiah: Gosh, Mom, you stink again!
Me: I stink?!?
Isaiah: Harsh, Mom.
Me: Harsh?!?
Isaiah: Harsh! You're so stinky!
